Fitness Background

Welcome to the A Team Training fitness area! I know what you’re thinking…a fitness page on a country music artist website? While I’ve always been passionate about creating music and performing, I also have a love for health and fitness. Over the past decade I’ve worked as a CSEP-CPT (Certified Personal Trainer) and I could think of no better way to share my passion for fitness and the knowledge I’ve gained than to dedicate one page to just that! So, let’s get started shall we!!

My Personal Fitness Philosophy

A-Team Training - Image 1I believe that anything is possible…”the only way to discover the limits of the possible is to go beyond them in to the impossible”! What seems impossible to you right now?

There’s no doubt that committing to a healthier lifestyle can be hard work. At times I bet it does almost seem impossible with the increasing demands that are put on us each day. Between work, family, scheduling, physical challenges and lack of motivation, time and energy where do you even begin right? How about if I told you it all starts with the next right step! The choice to become a stronger, healthier, happier person is possible you just have to make it. Now you’re probably thinking…okay Amanda nice speech but it’s not that simple!! Or is it? 

There are a lot of steps to take from where you are now to where you want to be. Do you find yourself looking way too far ahead? I’ve fallen victim to this way of thinking and all it does is create unnecessary fear, stress, anxiety, self doubt, lack of confidence and disappointment. While I agree that having a strong vision of your future and setting specific goals is a fundamental part of success, you must always return to the present…the next right step!!

My Fitness Journey

A-Team Training - Image 2Since I was young I was always very active. My interest in athletics paired with growing up on a farm where “farm chores” meant getting outside and moving kept me in great shape. I went off to college enrolled in what was at that time, the Physical Education program, now the college of Kinesiology and earned a spot on the Medicine Hat College Rattler’s volleyball team and later transferred to the University of Saskatchewan to play for the Huskies and finish my degree.

I had great success both in athletics and academics earning an Academic All Canadian Award at the college level and a CIAU (Canadian Interuniversity Athletic Union) All Star Team award for the top female volleyball players across Canada. I was a dedicated and hardworking student/ athlete. I think growing up on a farm had its advantages for my character development! Once I graduated I started working as a sales consultant at a small fitness club in Saskatoon. I had no idea that this “first step” in to the fitness industry would be the start of an amazing career.

I worked my way up the industry ladder for the next few years becoming the Head Trainer of a successful fitness club in Saskatoon and also becoming a personal training course instructor for the Canadian Fitness Professionals. Each step I took helped me grow and build the confidence and strength I needed to take the next big step. Eventually I decided to start my own personal training business, A Team Training, and continue my journey in the fitness world where I am dedicated to helping those who want to become a stronger, happier and healthier version of themselves. I commit myself to being the best role model I can be for my clients and have always practiced what I preach! Now I’m excited to share some of the things I’ve learned on my journey with you!

Whatever the case, you need to stop thinking  about what has been or what won’t be and focus on what you can do right now!!
